Knebworth – Meet the Candidate

  • Knebworth – The Lytton Arms, Old Knebworth – 19:00 until 21:00 Friday 21st April

My First Visit to The Houses of Parliament

Yesterday I had the great pleasure to be one of the judges for Peter Lilley MP, for his annual Hitchin & Harpenden Schools Debate, which was held in two Commons committee rooms. The standard of debate by all schools was extraordinary. The overall winner of the event was St George’s School.

After the debating competition Peter, took a number of us to the Commons and then another special treat from Laura (Peter’s Research Assistant) showed a two of us around the Commons Chapel.

It was quite a day and very enjoyable except maybe the Victoria tube issues making it difficult to get to the Commons in good time.

Chance to Meet the Candidate – Terry Tyler Marie Curie Collection Codicote

This Saturday 4th March 09:00 to 11:00, I will be collecting for the fabulous cause Marie Curie, as a part of their spring appeal. I will be collecting at the friending ‘Codicote Wyevale Garden Centre’. This will be my second Marie Curie collection at this venue, I was there last December, see attached photo. I would also like to thank the kindness of the staff and their generosity to this worthy cause. I invite local residents to pop in and say Hi.

Fast and Semi Fast Knebworth Trains Under Threat

Knebworth proposed changes to timetabling by Govia in 2018, means that Knebworth will lose Fast and Semi Fast trains, since these will stop at Welwyn North instead. Knebworth passengers number has risen 77% over the last 10 years much faster that Welwyn North at 41%. Also at Welwyn North there is only twin rails and every train that stops there has the potential to disrupt fast intercity services. Knebworth is likely to grow by 31%, as a result of the emerging NHDC Local Plan, which will increase considerably the demand for fast rail services. I will post more about these subjects and how you can make your views known soon. I therefore has fully support the campaign to stop these proposed changes and I am helping at Knebworth Station at 06:00 today and 06:00 on Thursday to distribute leaflets and let everyone know about the proposed changes and what commuters can do to flight this ill thought out change. Terry.
