Terry has lived in Great Ashby for the past 12 years. He was elected to North Hertfordshire District Council in 2016 as the Councillor for Chesfield, but has also been a Community Councillor since 2014.
In His Own Words
“I am standing for the Liberal Democrats as the Knebworth and Codicote Division candidate in the forthcoming Hertfordshire County elections on 4th May. I am campaigning globally on the on ‘six to fix’ issues which were reported by residents via a Hertfordshire-wide survey. The ‘Six to Fix’ are:
- Fix 1: Look after the old and vulnerable
- Fix 2: Create a healthy Hertfordshire
- Fix 3: Provide appropriate school spaces
- Fix 4: Deliver a better deal on highways & pavements
- Fix 5: Sort out public transport
- Fix 6: Make the money go further
I will also campaign to resolve local issues in the Knebworth, Codicote, Kimpton and Wymondley communities. I am keen to hear your issues and views to build a local issues list for each area and I need your help. Please contact me, via one of the channels below, and share your concerns.
I have already undertaken to actively support ‘Save our Trains’ in Knebworth in November and I and now engaging with the local community to help save The Station public house in Knebworth.

During my campaign I intend to meet as many of you as possible and will be conducting ‘meet the candidate’ events in each main settlement as well as traditional door to door canvassing. I will be using social media and video to extend my reach and explain my policies and highlight local issues, reported by you, that I will be working on, should you choose to elect me on 4th May.”

“I want to promote pleasant, fairer and practical communities within Little Wymondley, Great Wymondley, Graveley, Jacks Hill, Great Ashby, Titmore Green, Lower Titmore Green, Redcoats Green, Todds Green and, of course, Chesfield hamlet. I will pursue in all cases a balanced and pragmatic way, respecting the important issues of the day.
I also intend to be actively campaigning, in the Chesfield Ward, to:
- retain the Green Belt;
- create a Local Plan that secures a fair, reasonable and sustainable number of new homes;
- address flooding issues in Little Wymondley and other areas;
- promote an increase in primary and secondary school places;
- ensure the safety of school children at busy road crossings;
- retain reliable and frequent bus services;
- secure improved local health centre facilities;
- tackle the growing litter issue;
- secure a long-overdue public house for Great Ashby;
- solve the lorry turning issue in Little Wymondley;
- sort out the traffic issues through Great Wymondley;
- support and promote youth clubs and youth activities;
- protect and mainten our public bridleway and footpath network;
- include Tilekiln and Parsonsgreen Woods within the ‘Managed Walkways’ in Great Ashby;
- work and coordinate with Stevenage Borough Council;
- promote with developers for better infrastructure, facilities and wheelie bin storage for new local plan builds across the Chesfield Ward.
